Pixel Stars
Here’s a culmination of my ongoing attempt to create a stunning but simple star lighting effect. Simply projecting stars on the wall felt flat and wasn’t capturing the look I wanted to achieve. Enter 300 ws2812b addressable RGB LEDs. I mounted the LEDs in 1 meter long strips on the wall, and covered them with a sheer scrim fabric to hide the wires and defuse the light a little. The LEDs run off an Adafruit ItsyBitsy 32u4 MPU, with a USB serial interface to my computer for choosing colors, speed, and other parameters of the effect. To complete the effect I projected an aurora borealis-esque motion background onto the scrim. I’d say it turned out rather stunning. A very relaxing lighting effect to just sit and watch. I’ll admit, I’ve been sitting here staring at it for almost an hour.
